KT Wiz Professional Baseball Team (CEO Yoo Tae-yeol, ktwiz.co.kr ) won the Grand Prize (Presidential Commendation) at the 15th Korea Sports Industry Awards held at the Olympic Parktel in Seoul on the morning of the 18th (Wednesday).

The "Korea Sports Industry Awards," which marks its 15th anniversary this year, is an annual award ceremony given by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Park Yang-woo) to companies, organizations, and individuals who have contributed to enhancing the value of the sports industry and the development of the sports industry since 2005. At the awards ceremony, KT Sports President Yoo Tae-yeol and KT Wiz Team representative Kang Baek-ho attended and received the award.

KT Wiz, who received the Presidential Commendation, the highest honor at the awards ceremony, has been recognized for its contribution to the promotion of the sports industry and leading the convergence of baseball and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) since the 2015 season.

KT launched the WeJab application to communicate directly with fans for the first time in Korea, simplifying the process from ticket reservation to ticketing and admission for baseball fans, and enhancing convenience in using various F&B (food and beverage) stores in the stadium.

In addition, it introduced unmanned pitches such as fireworks, drones, and robot pitches, and drew the attention of baseball fans with various novel fan events such as the Water Festival, the world's first baseball stadium water play festival, and away magicians.

In particular, in the 2019 season, a "smart stadium" applying a new paradigm of "sports + 5G (5th generation mobile communication) convergence" was built at KT Wiz Park in Suwon, giving baseball fans a fresh and specialized experience that they have never encountered.

The service "KT 5G Professional Baseball Live," a realistic media, provides real-time videos and information to fans who do not come to the baseball stadium as if they are watching at a baseball stadium, while establishing a "customer-oriented integrated marketing system" to identify the status of spectators and analyze consumption behavior patterns for fan events and promotions. For the first time in KBO stadiums, it has established a fine dust management system (GIGA loT Air Map) and launched a campaign to measure fine dust and reduce it to create a pleasant viewing environment for fans.

KT Sports President Yoo Tae-yeol said, "We will do our best to continue to pursue the convergence of ICT and sports of KT Group, present innovative services to fans, and create new markets for the sports industry."
